I need advice please. I can see taking up more space is one disadvantage of having 2, but what about the performance part. What can I expect from 2 vs 1?

Thanks,

Unless you plan on adding a 2nd XV30 in the near future

Start with the end in mind.  If you see your self growing out of dual XV15's, then starting with a single larger might make more sense.

Having owned an XV30f... go with 2 XV15s. You'll be happier I think and if you really find yourself wanting more..get a 3rd XV15
