So I'm thrilled to be finally purchasing our first home, but am very concerned that my HT will sound like crap b/c the living room where the theater will be set up has 20 foot ceilings and hardwoods.

I'm afraid to ask, but should I expect horrible SQ?

We will be placing a very large area rug on the floor, but what about the overall room accoustics with the high celings and the area behind the seating being opened to the kitchen?

I love the house, but HT is a big portion of my at home enjoyment. I hope it isn't too bad...

Any suggestions?

Is the living room the only place in the house you can put the HT?

Yea, that's really my only option. Plus, I like the idea of keeping the HT in the living area for get togethers.

I have vaulted ceilings in my living room and my system sounds great. You just have to work on placement of everything, get things on the walls and floors to soften the room from the hardwood floors and everything will be fine. No worries, hook it all up and enjoy.

That's reassuring to hear. I'm sure I'll be on here with pictures to get some more advice from everyone on the know.
