hello everybody, my 2004 ws 55513 mitsubishi tv is been eating so much eletricity . my question is .if iwas to onplug the tv when not in used will i be ok or will this damage the tv in the long haul, thanks you all.for any advice.

How long is it not in use? If you only leave it off overnight, then it will have to go through the initialization cycle and heat the CRT's. But that "shouldn't" hurt it.

Apparently you haven't looked into what most flat panels draw especially plasmas.



"heat the CRT's"?? Are you saying these are always in some kind of standby mode??

Yes, most CRT 's since the early 70's had a heater circuit to keep them heated which allowed a faster turn on time.


Sets before that could take up to 5 minutes to show a picture.


No, I'm not really that old,,,,people just still brought those in for repair when I started as a tech.

I had two CRT RPTV's but never realized this. I never measured idle current or warm up time from a cold start.
