ha ha. Watching OTA. There doesnt seem to be even resolution to resolve the patches of cut brown grass on the field. At least I think thats what it is. The field reminds me of the ESPNHD mess at times. The rest looks so so probably because of the intense sunlight. All of the boys appear to be sunburnt as well.
It'd be interesting to see if there is some correlation between the "importance" of the game and the picture quality. Is the equipment identical for the "A" game and the "E" or "F" game?
The Bills/Vikings game looks great. Watching OTA.

And how do the network bitrates compare.
Vikes/Bills looks OK, just like other FOX games around here. Too much contrast at times but probably caused by the bright sun. This is via OTA and Charter. E* MPEG-4 local shows swimming grass that is not noticed as much OTA.
carolina game looks really nice on FOX...great rich colors and good clarity. no motion artifacts yet.

great? it looks like a DVD! the first thing i thought when i turned it on was "why is the bills game in Widescreen?"

like usual. FOX goes above and beyond any other channel. CBS should use FOX as an example of how to do HD football.
Well apparently there's quite a bit of difference between the equipment used for the featured game and the others. We could probably predict the expected quality, in large part, based on the trucks/crew that show up at each stadium. The Panther game this week is using 4 SSMO HD cameras (both low endzones and both handhelds) and it is not uncommon for games to have none (even the "B" game).

I guess it shouldn't be that much of a surprise - when FOX jumped to 6 games, they didn't build 6 all new HD trucks - which means we'll be somewhat at the mercy of the normal upgrade pace for the existing fleet.

BTW - the bitrate leaving the stadium is 64 with a video rate of about 58. A secondary HD feed (backup) is sent at 41/36.
Vince Young NFL Debut..

2 INT's, one returned for a TD. One fumble, returned 69 yards to the Dallas 5, resulting in a TD.

What a game!!!

What does that have to do with the broadcast? Stay on topic.

Game discussion is obviously on topic if it's an NFL game on FOX.
