As ABC goes to commercials, I switch to a CC-free Discovery HD! Very nice of KTLA to clean their camera lenses.

at&t commercial running again in HD on ABC like they did during New Year's Eve. KTLA/Discovery, of course, commercial-free. Looks like CBS is not covering the Parade this year and NBC is still covering it in SD.

Sorry about the captions everyone...we had a decoder set in the wrong position.

Also, the parade is also in 5.1 for the 1st time on Discovery HD Theater this year.

Happy New Year from Discovery!!!

P.S. Look for some bit rate changes from us in the next 6 weeks.

Care to be more specific? .

And thanks for resolving the caption issue.

All: Anyone know why Stephanie got kicked out of the booth? I mean, other than the obvious. This girl's good. This isn't the first time she's been through the script. Did her homework.

The Discovery feed seems to be keeping their camera lenses a lot clearer than ABC's. ABC's got raindrops and foggy lenses all over the place.

Sound is MUCH better on DHD than ABC (even after our local finally switched to the HD feed). Except when Bob Eubanks is talking.

Loving the 5.1, especially with the bands! Thanks for the upgrade. We do have it in HD on ABC, KMBC-Kansas City (watching via Sunflower Cable). Looks good but I am going with Discovery HD.

That's the difference between KTLA's Parade Pro Crew (as seen on Discovery HD) and ABC Sports covering the Parade to meet obligations with the Tournament of Roses Committee.

I give both kudos because they are beating NBC (no HD), CBS (no Parade), and HGTV (no HD) with their coverage.

Driving through the Dallas area last week, they were saying on the radio that the Allen, TX, band had to raise some $750k to take all 600+ band members, their equipment, etc., to the Rose Parade. Ouch!

Looks and sounds great on Discovery HD. Half the family in one room watching the parade, the rest in another watching the Cotton Bowl

Just an FYI, ABC's coverage is somewhat ahead of KTLA/Discovery's coverage; the floats appear first on ABC. This is because ABC's cameras are focused on Orange Grove Boulevard and the intersection of Orange Grove Blvd. and Colorado Blvd. while KTLA's cameras are focused on the same intersection and east of it on Colorado Boulevard. This could also account for the brighter images on KTLA due to the sun shining towards the northwest - in favor of KTLA's cameras.
