I just got a 67" and I tried to set it to Warm2, which I've been told is the closest to HDTV broadcast temperature. When I find it in the menu it is Grayed out.

Do I need to change some other settings?

Also, for whatever reason the HL67A750 looked TERRIBLE at Best Buy, compared to the flatpanels on the wall. Very dim and grainy! Lord knows how they managed to screw it up that much. Same video feed. Do they intentionally make some sets look bad? Why?

BB should be ashame the way this TV is setup..

I've been told that it's likely the camera, but the angle at which this picture was taken makes me wonder about that...

i posted this over in the wrong owner's thread (put it in the 61" instead of the 67" one here)...it belongs here instead...

well, i've had my 67" 750 for ~5 weeks now and was loving it...that is, until tonight when it started flashing/flickering pink over the screen on what seems to be all the inputs (at least the cable input and the HDMI1 input). i called a buddy that has the same cable provider and it's NOT the broadcast...plus, when i pause the Tivo, the screen still flickers pink. what a night for it to happen...the start of MNF! luckily, i have the 50" version in my loft and have been watching the game(s) upstairs.

i called Samsung and they're sending a local company out Thursday morning...hopefully the repair guy can fix it before Saturday's Ohio State @ USC game.

so, is this the common pink/violet problem that's been mentioned a few times? we turned off the AC in our house last night and while it's not "hot", it's definitely warmer...could the TV be overheating since it takes about 5-10 minutes before the flickering starts.

Just wanted to share my happiness with the 67A750. I purchased the set from Tweeter back in June 08. I did not get to actually install the set until second week of August 08 do to finishing my basement. I got to watch the NFL games this past weekend on Directv and let me say, I was blown away by the picture. I will post pics soon.

In my shopping around, I noticed at every store, the Sammy 67" looked worse than the sets around it. In asking, they told me the ones near it were connected to a Blu-Ray where the Sammy was connected to satellite feed. I asked if they could change it around so I could see the Samsung with the Blu-Ray and they couldn't. Strange that all were setup similar (BB, CC, HH)

Any chance any of you who has had professional calibrations posting your settings to the site? With default settings, mine looks a close to perfect as I could imagine, but if it could be crystal clear then I'd like to give it a shot.

Thanks!

Sheez,,

How hard is it for a store to demo a Blu-ray player with a TV

c'mon.
If you don't have anything of value to add, then don't. It's a legitimate concern. Maybe someone helpful could respond?

People try to be helpful and I know this is a video forum not a photo forum, but many times people just don't understand how to take a picture of a TV.

You MUST turn off the flash. You must have the metering be on the center of the frame (or zoom in, until the TV fills the frame).

Looking at shots with a flash, tell you nothing about how the TV picture looks, unless you watch TV with a strobe light going.

Finally, if you want to see what a TV looks like, you really need to go see it (albeit many stores do not have them set up well, but it's still better than a 640x480 jpeg compressed flash shot) for discerning details.

To your specific question, to my human eye (I have the 67") there is no perceptable brightness fall off in the corners.

In the picture you reference there is a flash. Behind the the whole screen is one GIANT mirror (though, of course, angled down).

Samsung even places a 1 page insert in the packaging to tell you, you will see a brighter spot in the middle (when the TV is off) if you have a direct light source shining straight at the TV.

I realize the TV is on, in that picture, but it's the same principle. Also the camera (even if the flash where off) is not centered and not perpendicular to the TV.

Net: home pictures are good to show the setup, the TV stand, some weird artifact on a problem TV, etc. They are not good to discern technical details.

Hey loflin, thanks for the great post. I really appreciate it. I realize looking at screenshots is no way to gauge PQ, however, I live somewhere very remote and the nearest place to see this TV is a good 2 hours or more. Eventually, I'll make the trip, but for now, screenshots help guys like me more than not seeing anything at all.

^^^ Good info here, thanks! That's exactly what I needed to hear.

CC has the 67" on sale for $2099-$100(special coupon) = $1999

Good price but the tax kills you. Do most of you think this TV should not be shipped from an online retailer?

I guess this thread continues on despite the 61" thread. So I've decided this is my TV, but I'm having the hardest time deciding on my stand. I know I want a cabinet so as not to see the wire mess in the back. This is the one I think I want.

Tech-craft SWBL60

But it's hard to find online for a good price. Anyone have any other stand recommendations?

I'm also eyeing this one:

i would never buy a tv online

Outside of a small TV I found in scratch & dent for an ancillary room, I haven't bought a TV at a B&M store in about 20 years. Even the 73" I just bought came from online. Local stores just can't touch the price.
