I wonder what the story will be with their NeoLCD. Just a prototype, or will they actually be selling them this year?

NeoLCD and NeoPDP are just the marketing concepts. Just like Kuro for Pioneer. They just want to bring a fresh, innovative, and new way of thinking for flat panel technology.

I really do hope they bring something out bigger than 37".

Panasonic prefers to keep the larger size as PDP's, while 37" and smaller are their LCD offerings. It would be nice if they followed Samsung's model b/c here is why...What if the plasma market tanks for Panasonic? Well they will have to rush out NeoLCD's at larger sizes, while Samsung has the market covered very well. But to answer your question, Panasonic believes that you get better performance from plasma at larger sizes rather than LCDs.

The IPS-alpha factory isn't set up to handle large mother glass, so that's going to remain the case until their new factory comes online. Last I heard, that's going to happen in late 2010.

That X Series feature list actually is for Plasma, the LCD should read:

Is the 2009 line-up rumored to be slimmer and lighter than their 2008 TC- LCD series?

Hmm... seems like there's room even now for Panny to bring out a larger LCD. Their LCD line currently stops at 37", their plasmas (IIRC) start at 42". That leaves 40" in no man's land.

It's a pretty gosh-darn popular size in LCDs. Does Panny want some more sales or not?

I bought mine from that outlet a few days ago. It was a leap of faith to buy before reviews and comparisons can be made, but when it hits major store chains I wouldn't be surprised if it starts between $1.199 and $1,399. Of course I could be wrong, but I didn't want to get non-buyers remore after the price goes back up.

I called Provantage today to find out when the tvs were shipping since Amazon has them with a 4/6 release. The lady told me they'll be shipping on 3/26. She may have said 25th, I've had a lot to do today and didn't write it down, but I know it's either/or. I've been kind of cautious to get it from them because I have no experience and have never heard of them. Amazon has the same model for 900 with no shipping, while after tax and shipping Provantage is coming in at 770~ for me. I think I may take a chance with this because that's just too big of a savings.

As for retail prices, I assume they'll be around 800-900 depending on the model. My local BB has the new 42" 720 plasmas for 900 so I don't imagine these will be any higher, except probably the G series.

I agree, but I don't think they want to overshadow their plasma line. Don't expect sizes 50"+ unless they stop producing plasmas.
