Report: NBA eyes mid-June return, with no fans, as best-case scenario amid coronavirus crisis

As the Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommends not holding events of more than 50 people for at least eight weeks, a group of NBA owners and executives believe the best-case scenario for the league is a mid-June return date with no fans in attendance...the league is also reportedly scouting for possibly arena dates through August, signaling we might be looking at a delayed NBA Finals...

if the season is extended through August then what will happen with the following season which starts up in October??...not enough time in between...looks like we're headed for a lost season

This is what Bobby Marks from ESPN tweeted tonight:

Interesting when you lay it out:

Mid-June- start of the NBA playoffs

Early August- NBA Finals

End of August- Draft

Sept. 1- Start of FA

Sept. 10- Summer/fall league

Dec. 10- training camp opens

Dec. 25- regular season opens (82 games)

Mid-June- NBA season ends

My question would also would be where would the Summer Olympics fit into this if it is not canceled. It's possible the Summer Olympics could be moved to late August or September or even next Summer? Not sure what the timeline is for other sports and athletes that participate in the Olympics and when their season starts and ends. I would be very disappointed if the Summer Olympics gets canceled. It's something I look forward to because of USA basketball, track and field and Swimming. But also because it was the first sports broadcast I've seen in 4k (downscaled from 8k) and to this day it's still the best looking 4k sports broadcast that I've seen. Although it was technically not live since it was shown the day after.

I think if the season resumes in June and ends in August they will scrap the Summer/Fall League and shorten the following season down to ~62 games

Casino's in NY shut down tonight. Whatcha gonna do? :D
they have casinos in NYC?...I thought Atlantic City was the only one and that's in Jersey...I need to find some new hobbies now that everything is pretty much shutdown...maybe I'll wander through a virtually empty Times Square like Will Smith in I Am Legend...

Thank goodness you're not the Travis type.

Resorts World New York City is part of the Aqueduct Racetrack complex.[33] It was proposed in the late 2000s and opened in late 2011.[1] Aside from its being the first legal casino in New York City, it is the only casino located in the five boroughs and the only casino besides Empire City Casino and Jake's 58 in the New York City region.

Legend? At least you didn't confuse Jamaica Estates with New Rochelle. :D

^^^ One thing I've never been able to figure out about Chuck. Clearly, he was a transcendent athlete. Raw power combined with a silky smooth jump shot. He was the whole hoops package. But he could not learn how to swing a golf club to save his life. It is literally painful to watch him try. :p No amount of coaching by the best in the business, no amount of practice, nothing could ever help him. It's really incredible how one person could be so good at one athletic activity, and so completely, hopelessly abysmal at another. :D
