OK, so I'm starting this thread because I own one of these TV's and I have a problem with it. I came to get help and there is no owners thread. And since I am the only one here so far, I wonder if anyone will see this or be able to help me.

The problem is that when I turn the TV off while it is on a specific HDMI port, if I wait a few minutes and turn the TV back on the colors are all washed out. At that point, if I just go into the picture mode setting (don't even have to change the mode) or if I change sources, the colors go right back to normal. But it is pretty annoying to have the colors washed out every time I turn the TV on. Has anyone else experienced that on this TV or any other Samsung TV?

I have not tried using a different source in this HDMI port because the ports are not easily accessible. But I know the problem is not the source itself because even without changing sources, the colors bounce back the precise moment I enter the picture mode setting and there is no way the source has any idea what I'm doing in my TV settings.

Are you able to try a different device or a different HDMI cord?
Thank you so much for making this thread.

I have been thinking of getting the Samsung AU8000 to replace my Hisense A6G in my bedroom. My mom likes Samsung TVs (We have owned a 7-year old HD Samsung TV that is in our living room). Also, her V-Zon TV has trouble with the HDMI ports, which is why I am thinking about lending her my A6G.

How is the gaming performance and settings on the AU8000? I am planning to get the Xbox Series S this month.
Yeah I have been thinking about getting this tv for a multi screen setup for Football this season. I have a 77inch as my main tv and I'm thinking about getting 2 50 inch 8000 models to go on the sides of the larger screen so we can watch more than 1 game at a time.

How is everyone feeling about this tv?

Not easily, with the TV mounted so close to the wall it is nearly impossible. The device in question is a Chromecast that has no HDMI cable.

I don't know if the problem will occur on any HDMI port or just this one. The only other device I have connected to the TV is a Roku, but the Roku powers off when the TV turns off because it is connected to the TV's USB port. The Chromecast is always on because it is plugged directly into the outlet.

I just factory reset the TV and left every single thing at the default setting and did not connect the TV to the internet. The problem remains. This is beyond annoying and I wish I discovered the problem before the return window expired because this bug is really making me hate this TV.

I have not tried gaming with this TV but I would not expect great performance out of this TV. Even navigating the TV menu with the remote has a ton of lag. I've never experienced anything like that, even on TV's 20 years older.

The viewing angles and reflection on this TV are not great, so something to think about depending on how off-center you will be watching.

Ouch, looks like I might have to go with the QN90A instead.

There are quite a few models in the middle from Samsung (Q60A, Q70A, Q80A, QN85A) between the QN90A and the AU8000, especially at 50" and 85". :ROFLMAO:

In hopes that there might be a problem with my unit I bought another one and tested it. The second model had the exact same problem so this is an issue with the TV. I have the 50" model, can't say for sure if this is a problem across all models, but it probably is.

While I had the TV down off the wall I also tested different HDMI inputs and the problem was still there.

This is going to affect you if you have a set top box or something like that which stays on after you turn the TV off. When you turn the TV back on the colors will be muted until you go into the settings and then they will snap back. Changing the power saving settings, auto brightness, etc. did not eliminate this bizarre problem.

I also contacted Samsung support about this and spent and ungodly amount of time troubleshooting different things. I was told the case would be escalated and someone higher up would get back to me. As you already know, nobody ever followed up with me about this problem. They never do.

This TV is fantastically thin which is its only redeeming quality and why I am going to keep it. Nothing else will look as good as this TV for where I am mounting it, and fortunately this is a room where aesthetics matter more because the TV won't see much use. It just needs to sit on the wall and look pretty. At 1" thick for the 50" model, it is even thinner than OLED TV's. Yes, the majority of an OLED screen is very thin, but they all have a thick chunk in back where all the components are and that will make your TV stick out from the wall more than this TV does. This TV is impressively thin, especially at this price point. And it makes me wonder why more TV's aren't as slim as this guy.

If you don't care how thin your TV is do not buy this. It really is not very good in any area. The reflections and viewing angles are particularly bad in my opinion.

There is a gaming mode in the settings which might make things better, I did not try it.

I am facing the same issue with my 65 inch tv, and the device is firestick 4k, did you find any solution?

I did not find a solution to the problem, but I found a workaround. I turned on the CEC so that my Chromecast turns off when the TV turns off and turns on when the TV turns on. If the Chromecast doesn't stay on while the TV is off then the problem doesn't surface.

Firestick also has CEC so you should be able to do the same.

Now that we know this problem exists on other models in this line we can deduce that this is an issue throughout the line.

I did turn on CEC on firestick, it did not help, seems will return the tv

You have to turn it on the TV and on the Firestick both.
I did turn on for both, on samsung tv...anynet+hdmi-cec and on firestick too...still suffering

The only thing left I can think of is if you are turning it off with the TV remote try turning it off with the Firestick remote. And if it has remote button mapping, try it with the power button mapped to the TV and not mapped to the TV (Firestick only).

If none of that works, return the hunk of junk. It's a pretty crappy TV in my opinion that is only worth buying if you need a TV so thin.

I agree with you, it is crappy upgrade, i got scared yesterday when I turned it on and it was flashing green in the background, the display sucks
i cant believe no one else it talking about the clicking sound (drip, drip) that the 55au800 and 55au8000 have when the unit is off. hard to notice it in a larger room, but a small bedroom at night, it sounds like a roof leak?

anyone else notice this. its coming from the bottom left of the panel (some same power supply issue)

Get rid of it, it is a buggy lineup this time
I have 3 of this model at my place and having no issues. I have two 50 inch ones and a 65 inch. Is it the greatest, no but it gets the job done.

i got the client two 50s and a 55. The 50s were fine. I think the 55 used a different power supply, and thats where the issue lies. Tried both the costco variant, and the normal samsung variant... same issue for both.

I had chatted with Samsung.. and of course they had never heard of this strange problem.
