Impulse buy and grabbed couple of Lavoce SAN214.50 on the recent sale and john @LTD02 was once again courteous to provide a box design.

Restricted on available space for the cabinet size, I had to go with 18"x 24" cabinet for this one. I was so tempted to build the devastators but will leave it for my next project. Let the Bass Reflex build be started!!

Cab Details:
About 8.3 c.f. around 18hz tuning.

First time working with Arauco ply and it is lot better than working with MDF. No Dust at all compared to MDF.

I think I would do pocket holes on the port rails and port section next time to quicken the process.
Wow, boxes look great! How are you finishing them?

Your build is pretty close to my original slim nearfield design. I bet a single baffle at this size will save a good deal of weight. I really didn’t want to extend the depth on mine past 16” but could have probably made something like this work. I’ll probably never realize the slight difference an extra 2 cu ft adds.

I'm thinking to leave it as is in raw mode as they go behind the AT screen . Yeah weight is a huge benefiting factor using the ply vs mdf. First time using the 2x4s and with the braces its looks and feels rock solid.
While test fitting the sub yesterday I noticed this on one of the opened sub. Looks like a patched cone to me, should I contact PE?

What is going on with the top of your box? Were the measurements off or did you not account for the different thickness of the plywood?

Good catch !

Yeah I switched to ply in the last minute so I had to settle with baffle size of 48" vs 48.25" , BUT I didn't change the size panel size so there is quarter inch extra I need to trim off at the end.

MDF would've been a perfect fit with original cut list.
Few pics from yesterdays work.

Looks very nice. I agree with you that staining them would be a great look.

are yours done yet?
you are going to love these...I am still very impressed by mine.
Love this build. I did Sekosche’s 15” build and this is nearly the same. I’ll be interested in your impressions.

Sent mail to PE customer service and didn't get a quick update, so I called them up and was very happy with the call. The rep quickly pulled up my mail and verified the defect in the sub cone and put in request for replacement. Sadly I need to send this back today or tomorrow and won't receive the replacement till 8/27/19 .
I vote for a stain and black finish. Maybe paint the baffle black and the rest stain. Great job though. #Chadsmith013 is right, you will love them. His sound amazing and yours looks pretty close to his design.

Yeah I wish mine were done. But unforeseen expenses have delayed the build for a bit. Hopefully in the next month or so.
