Its the 3-2 pulldown circuitry for film based sources. Very generally, it is used to help to adjust the different frame rates for film and video sources.

It is the same mode as on the 10 series, under the "function" menu.

This raises a question -- do P50 users leave this "on" or "off" most of the time? And if "off" when do you turn it on? For watching DVDs or movies broadcast on TV?

The impact of this mode was touched on in this thread.

I've had the same "combing" problem with my P50(10). With 24 Frame Mode on, even film based material through component will have a jagged edge combing effect. This disappears when set to Off.

My DVD player is connected through DVI which has no 24 Frame Mode option.

To answer your question, I leave it "off" always.
