$2500 range projector?

Looking around it seems there is a general pick of the benq 1070 for a budget projector.is there one like that in the 23-2500 range?one That would be a good place to start?

I had the W1070 but now I have the Mitsubishi HC8000. The Mit cost me $1600 and its much better. I know the Mit HC7900 is $900 and similar performance. The Mit HC8000 has better contrast. With 3D the Mitsubishi is better too
It seems like the epson 5030ub would be general consensus
Another 5030 guy here, but it's a hair north of your budget.
I can make the 5030 work but its a matter of allocating my budget. I am getting (I think) the pioneer elite sc 75 receiver. I want to upgrade my speakers. But can put that off .I also had the idea of getting the best speakers I can afford and a cheaper projector because sooner or later I can buy a 4k projector.speakers will last years and years. But will a couple thousand dollar pair of fronts be worth a downgraded projector to maybe a benq ? I love the Martin Logan electrostatic speakers. Or I was thinking the SLM models and getting three and mounting sideways under the screen. Then a 2500 range projector. A benq would let me get awesome speakers and a few theatre seats.but is the sacrifice OK? I only use a 61 inch 720p JVC hdla TV now. So excited but want an impressive system. give and take I guess
I would look at the goldenear triton seven fronts and the nicer projector
I would get a better projector than the benq w1070. If you are going to spend thousands on speakers, you might as well spend $500 more for a quality HT projector

Best buy sold me on the Sony 30es but looking online I don't think he knew much about it.he said auto zoom and 3d .but looks like manual and need an emitter? Ugh.

Those guys usually don't know much about projectors
Considering how fast the tech is improving on projectors, I went low buck on replacing a crt based nec xg 1100. I finally settled on a $1500 Epson 3020 and couldn't be happier.

It produces a image equal to or better than the Nec. Excellent image, deep blacks, bright whites clear sharp. 3d is fun to view, and true 1080P. It doesn't have all the bells and "features" it's higher priced brothers have but it exceeds my needs for now and for the next few years. After 4K becomes mainstream and cost effective in a few years I'll consider another upgrade.

For now I see no reason to drop large coin for something that will be replaced in a few years.

For $2,500 I would get the JVC RS46. You will need a 3D emitter and glasses if you want to add 3D, but the image is very good and the 3D on it is a lot more solid than I believe some people may lead you to believe. The contrast is better than the AE8000 or 5030 will be able to deliver by a fair bit. Solid unit!

Isn't that Model out of production? Did you get a discount on it?

I've seen that on Demo and seen a 5030 on Demo I liked my 5030 better + the 5030 comes with a pair of 3D glasses ... I haven't seen the JVC that AV_Integrated mentioned though so I cannot comment on that comparison
For what it's worth The Epson 2030 and 5030 projectors come with 3d glasses and use a rf emitter. I briefly considered the 5030 series, but opted to spend the extra $1k on a replacement a/v receiver.

I suppose the 400,000 contract ratio may be worth the extra coin but oh well too late to change it now...

Sorry.when I said sold me on it.meant that I liked it. Still looking
Really irritating that no one seems to sell projectors locally. Anyone know where around the twin cities in mn that I can demo a few? Everyone has such a variety of input. Leaning to the Epson 5030 if I wait on the speaker upgrade.would love to see the difference between that and a $1500 unit. Also my room is 25 ft long with a beam at the 12 ft mark would that do a decent job at that point? Either on the Beam or in front? I can fit an 8 ft wide screen. Maybe up to 9.5 if I run horizontal speakers.
