All TV's in my house (9) get basic cable and one of those 9 gets premium/HD/digital/the works.... through a cable box provided by my local cable company.


Question: if I buy a cable box on my own (if possible) can I hook it up to one of my other TV's and get the same services without the cable company know?


Or, if I do tell them I want another box does the TV that I add it too automatically get all of the services that my one that gets all these services now get?

Read the posts again.

The answer to your first question was no.

The answer to your second question was yes.


Your cable company, if you are in the U.S., will not authorize the use of a privately owned cable stb. If you buy one, it will be useless to you.

So, if my CC charges $5.00 per month for a 2nd set top box--I will get the 180 channels I am getting on a different TV where I do have a STB?
