I have a Hitachi 51swx20b with Denon 3800. Can I use the 3:2 pulldown on the dvd player and tv. Will it effect anything or not? I have the tv in movie mode which will automatically activate the pulldown.
The Hitachi is smart. If it isn't flagged, because the DVD player already did the 3:2 reverse, then the Hitachi WON'T try and do it again. This, pretty much everyone agrees on, who has been discussing this topic.
We are still however in constant debate whether the Hitachi 3:2 (Movie Mode has any affect on other interlaced sources such as VHS, Laserdisc, regular (Non-HDTV) DirecTv or Dish, OTA, etc... This debate will probably go on forever.
As far as DVD's though, if the DVD player has the ability to do 3:2 reverse pulldown, then the Hitachi will skip this process. Even if it's in Movie Mode.... later.... Mike.....
