3/8" or 1/2" rope light

I'm going to be installing rope lights under the lip on my stage and riser and was looking to order some channel to install them into. Then I find out there are two sizes of rope lights (3/8 and 1/2). I've seen them in Home Depot and Menards, but never took the time to actually measure them. I do have to go around a right angle corner on my riser and I was thinking that 3/8" might be a little more flexible. Or is there any difference? What is the diameter of the lights that the big boxes sell? Thanks in advance.

I'm quite sure mine is 1/2" from HD. A lot of pens (non-bic) are 3/8" and that is skinny.

To deal with the right angle why don't you round over that area where your rope light is going to bend. The round curve like the size of a pop can. That is what I did in anticipation of putting the rope light under my step overhang. A "sawz-all"/recip saw works well. Food for thought.

As it turned out I need some for my stairs. The stuff I just bought from HD _is_ 3/8". I'm almost certain the stuff I put in my crown is 1/2". I bought it well over a year ago at HD. Guess I'm not helping much
Thanks Scott! I guess its off to Home Depot or Menards with my measuring tape.
