You no longer have to be limited to 55 or 65 3-D televisions, as you can watch 3-D movies on screens up to a 300 diagonal, depending on the image size that can be projected by the brand of projector that you select.


Not all projectors are capable of projecting 3-D. In fact, many cannot. Even some projectors that are cited by its manufacturer as 3-D ready or 3-D capable do not process 3-D well. Some models cannot project 3-D images from a Blu-ray player, but only from a PC that has 120 Hz output.

The author of this article obviously doesn't know even the basics of 3D projection. He goes on and on about LCos and SXRD, and at the end puts LCos and SXRD as features you should look for in your next 3D projector. Meanwhile, DLP is given short shrift, even though it is the better 3D projection technology, with ghost free images.

Michael must be an avid DLP fan and has not kept up with technology. SXRD is LcoS technology, only developed by Sony. Three DLP chip technology is expensive with lower contrast ratios and is louder than the single chip DLP, with a shorter lamp life. LcoS projectors are very bright. The images are smooth and film-like due to the pixel structure. The colors are accurate and have great saturation. The Sony SXRD picture has to be seen to realize how good it is.

I fully agree, but I believe the new LCD and LCoS offerings will be very close to DLP and will soon surpass DLP, meaning that they'll also be ghost free and have better contrast etc. Right now those $500 3D 720p DLP are amazing for 3D!

Why all the negativity? If you want to nitpick people on trademark names, then call LcoS what it really is, LCD. LCD response times are too slow to compete with DLP for 3D, and the result is ghosting. All the other grandiose features you mentioned mean nothing if the 3D image sucks.
