What is the mode in a 720p pj to vertically stretch the image so you can use the anamorphic lens to then recompress the 2.35 image.

If you are later going to display a 16x9 on a 16x9 screen, I assume you would have to un-stretch the image and move the lens out of the path

Do I understand this correctly?

Thanks

Which projector do you have? Its usually called slightly different depending which projector. Look for something called vertical stretch, zoom, letterbox etc. It's hard to say exactly which but what you want is to get rid of the black bars top and bottom without losing the sides of the picture.

I'm not sure I understand. You mean when you watch 16x9 on a 2.35 screen or 16x9 without a 2.35 screen?

I have the Virtuoso which is the same as the Studio Experience 50HD.

Yes I mean when I go back to a regular 16x9 movie on my 19x9 screen

Thanks

I downloaded the manual for the Studio Experience 50HD.

You want to use the LETTERBOX mode in aspect ratio. This will chop the black bars off when watching 2.35.

If you want to keep the lens on all the time you should also use STANDARD.

If you go back to a 16x9 screen with no lens you need to disable the stretch and put it in normal mode.

Thanks Tukkis, I did not get a chance to try that last night but I will today. I was not sure what that letterbox was as I always just kept it on anamorphic.

You should also try HD sources not just dvd.

Don't have HD source yet. My pj will not sink up with the Toshiba HD/DVD and I have always felt there was nothing on TV I cared to watch in their low bit rate excuse for HD. I do plan to upgrade to a 1080P pj next spring or summer and am looking forward to HD as it becomes more available for movies
