Just looking for directv receivers that people have successfully hooked up to their 30x0 series replaytvs via serial control.

I've done that. I'll try to dig up the model number, but as far as I can tell, most DirectTv receivers work fine with serial control.

I was/am a little concerned, since searches of the forum seemed to show a wariness about 'newer' directv receivers not being compatible with the 3000 replaytvs. Maybe the replaytv 4000 series has a more up to date database of the serial commands for these newer satellite receivers, but I'm stuck with my 3060 - and I'm damned if I'm going to get a direct*vo!

So if all viewers using a 3060 and a directv receiver could reply with their model #'s - the popsicles are on me!

My RCA DRD440RE works just fine with a 3030, and it is part of the current generation of the RCA receivers.

I have two different models that are part of that series and both work flawlessly.


On the other hand, the IR functions seem to work fine as well, so if serial will not work, then IR is still an option.


EDIT: Unless there is something I don't know about, there isn't a database for Directv receivers, just a database for cable boxes. All of the directv receivers work the same, if they work.

just got RCADSM433RG's for DirectTV. The serial connection didn't work. (Through the serial to rj-45 adapter and into the port marked "low speed data").


Gave up and went to IR port. Works well so far.


If anyone can confirm whether 3000's and "newer but cheaper" directv recvr's should work, that'd be great!

I've got the RCA DRD420RE and think it's the perfect box for using with a Replay: Small, cheap, and perfect serial control.


And you can get it for $30 from Amazon.
