I just purchased the 30xs955 and I was wondering what you all have your settings at and for which inputs. Also if you set the mode as interlaced, progressive, or cinemotion. Thanks in advance for replies.

I use Pro color mode for OTA HDTV and my DirecTV service

and I use movie or Pro for DVDs

I use interlaced for almost all Standard Def TV, but for some movies I will use cinemotion

as long as they are not "formatted to fit your screen" or "editted"

my color settings are close to 35 contrast, 40 brightness, 30 color, with hue and sharpness at default

it varies per TV, so I just rounded

some fine using monitor mode is nice

but my reds are too dark when I enable it

I have yet to see progressive make the image look better

nice puchase

I did my settings last night. They are much different. I don't know that I have the best eyes for these things. I have different astigmatism in both eyes. My wife chimed in and we didnt always agree on the better setting. I used Video Essentials. What does DVE do differently than VE.

Contrast 27

Brightness 47

Color 31

Hue R2

Sharpness 16

My set is the 34HS420, and my settings are very, very close to kny3twalker's.

My one disappointment is Sony's implementation of "Progressive Scan." I too have yet to see this make any improvement. I do believe the CineMotion setting utilizes Progressive Scan, but employs other adjustments that make it look so good with film-based material.
