3250HD cable box issue with dvi

I've got a problem with this cable receiver when I connect via DVI to my projector. The DVI port on my projector is HDCP complient, but when I turn the 3250HD, I get an error message that says my HDTV is not HTCP complient. However, if I unplug the DVI cable from the cable box after I power everything on, and then plug the cable back in, everything is fine. As soon I as shut of either the projector or the cable box, I'm back in the same boat. Does anybody know if this can be fixed?

I am experiencing a similar situation.

I have a ScientificAtlanta 3250HD (from TimeWarner) and a Sayno HT30744(CRT) .

If I connect the STB to the TV using a DVI to HDMI cable, I must re-boot the STB before the TV and STB will sync up. Once I turn the TV off and back on, I must re-boot the STB before the HDMI connection will work again.

Although this works, I consider it an unacceptable work-around to the issue. I should be able to turn the TV on and have it work via HDMI without having to re-boot the STB every time.

Is it a problem with the STB, the TV, or the combination of the two?

What is solution?

For what its worth, It looks like the TV is forgetting the encryption keys and the STB and TV are not negotiating a new set of keys. Other the a re-boot of the cable box, is there a way to force the negotiation on either the STB or the TV?

Everybody I have talked to seems to agree: the problem is with the 3250hd box's DVI output. I don't believe there is any way to fix the issue with dvi output. I've got a direct TV box as well. At some point, I'm going to upgrade the direct TV box to HD and use the DVI output from that box to my projector. I'll use the component output from the 3250hd box.
I had that issue with old firmware. With new firmware (1.56.4.1 or something close to that), DVI works great. Unfortunately, you have no control over updating the firmware. It is pushed to your box by your local cable co.

The old firmware only does HDCP handshake when the cable is first connected. If you turn off the TV, you lost the handshake. The correct implementation should be HDCP handshake at least once every 2 seconds according to HDCP standard. The new firmware solved this problem.
