Which will actually give me a physically larger picture when watching 16x9 HDTV? The 16x9 screen of the xbr2 or the letterboxed 4:3 picture area of the 36XBR450?

Take the size of a 4:3 tv and multiply by 0.918, you get the equivalent 16:9 tv size (letter boxed),

36" * 0.918 = 33.05"

Take the size of a 16:9 tv and multiply by 0.817, you get the side boxed 4:3 tv size,

34" * 0.817 = 27.78"
