I have the cable company coming to hook up some HDTV channels for me.

Should I use component video cables or DVI?

There are only around 5 channels that will be broadcast to me in HDTV, the remaining 80 channels or so will still be "regular cable".

Will "regular cable" channels be able to be transmitted via DVI connection?

Also, should the cable be DVI or DVI-D? (Yes I'm new to this).

Do it both ways!


You'll have the option of using the different stretch modes (zoom, wide zoom, etc.) available with the component imput for your SD channels, and the best possible connection for your HD programs with the DVI cable.


As far as the cable goes, it depends on your cable box (but it's probably DVI).
