Hello All,

I'm building a Mini-ITX HTPC using a MoDT motherboard. I'm looking at Intel's 25W and 35W Mobile Core2Duo CPUs. I'll be watching Blu-ray discs, utilizing a dual-tuner HD card, and streaming Hulu/Netflix. It is possible that I will be recording one or two shows while streaming Hulu or watching a Blu-ray disc simultaneously.

Can I get by with the 2.53GHz CPU? Or should I give myself a bit of breathing room with the 2.8GHz?

Oh...It would probably help for you to know that I'll be using the Intel GM45 chipset for video. That should cover hardware acceleration for Blu.

Somewhat Related Question: What's the best way to determine if a particular CPU is compatible with a motherboard?

Thanks!

It's the Hulu/Netflix axis that is scariest; the Blu-ray will be covered by the GM45, as you point out. For that alone I'd go with more horsepower in the CPU.
