37" VIZIO LCD - Why black bars HD-DVD?

I'm curious why my wide screen tv has black bars when I play an hd-dvd? i'm using the xbox 360 hd-dvd player, with the vga connection at 1360x768. I was disappointed last night when I watched batman begins...


anyway to fix this?

You mean bars at the top and bottom, right?


Probably because the movie is even wider than a widescreen TV. Many (maybe most?) movies are wider than 16:9.
