What is/will be the best forum for knowing about current and newly released 3D Blu-Ray disk titles.

Does anyone expect the first titles to be anounced and available tomorrow 3/10 when both Samsung and Panasonic will be launching their 3D Blu-Ray drives?

If none will be available on 3/10 when are the first titles expected to be available?

No format war.

Dreamworks simply has a deal with Samsung for exclusive distrubution on some 3-D titles through bundling with their products. This obviously won't last forever, and those titles will, after a certain point in time, be available through regular channels.

Is Monsters vs. Aliens in the box? Is that going to be the only "official" 3D Blu Ray movie available... starting tomorrow?

Deluxe Digital Studios Ups 3D Blu-ray Disc Production

Quote:
The Los Angeles-based subsidiary of Deluxe Entertainment Services Group said current systems for DVD/Blu-ray authoring will be expanded for 3D to include menus and bonus materials, creation of subtitles, compression of video, BD-J programming, authoring, AACS copy protection processing, check disc creation, and player compatibility testing.

Slightly OT, but I'd also like a list of movies that were shot natively in 3D as opposed to being done in post-production. Can't find a list by googling.

Mary Daly, of Fox Home Entertainment, said that starting in April the studio will allow Panasonic to begin to bundle a copy of the newly announced 3D Blu-ray Disc "Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs" with Panasonic 3D TVs and Blu-ray Disc players. It will be the first of a number of planned 3D titles to be produced by Fox on Blu-ray Disc this year, she said, although she could not comment on home entertainment release plans for the current blockbuster "Avatar," which Panasonic helped to sponsor

Lee, there have been many other converted films released to theaters already. These include:

SUPERMAN RETURNS (4 sequences in IMAX version)

HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX (last 20 mins in IMAX version)

HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF BLOOD PRINCE (first 10 mins in IMAX version)

G-FORCE

NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (1968 colorized version) was converted to 3-D and recently debuted in an outdoor LA screening.

PIRANHA 3-D was shot flat and is undergoing a conversion (this was intended from the outset, as was the case with ALICE IN WONDERLAND.)

There are plenty more in process, both catalog and yet to be released movies. Some IMAX documentaries have undergone conversion as well. Look for more and more movies to be planned as 2-D to 3-D conversions all along; some directors apparently feel this is the easier way to go. I've heard talk that the new CONAN and FLASH GORDON projects will take this route.

Samsung 3D Starter Kit gets 3DTV and Blu-ray buyers started

Wow.... That is truly lame. So you buy the 3D Blu Ray player, and don't even get a movie inside that box? Instead you have to buy a 3K tv as well to get the special starter kit for free. How nice of them.

There has to at least be some kind of sampler disc.... right?

AFAIK - no 3D sampler disc. Not mentioned in any articles. Just Monsters vs. Aliens

Maybe the Panasonic will:

Quote:
The intention is that a package of 3D TV, Blu-ray player and glasses should sell for about $3000, thus tempting consumers to make the leap to 3D. It's also expected that a3d Blu-ray sampler disc will be given away with Panasonic purchases.

But it is not mentioned here:

So it appears that Anthony1's above post is correct in that:

Monsters vs. Aliens is the only "official" 3D Blu Ray movie available today and you can only get if you purchase the Samsung 3D HDTV,3D blu-ray player kit. So if you do not purchase the Samsung combo kit package or if you purchase a Panasonic 3D TV and 3

D blu-ray player there is not one 3D Blu-ray disk you can purchase that meets the full 3D-blu ray standard. Is this in fact true today?

Correct - then in April, Panasonic will add the 3D Blu-ray Disc "Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs to it's bundle

OK I get it.

Sucks though. I hope this doesn't mean 3D BD movies are only going to be available depnding on whatever new hardware becomes available. I understand dangling content to pull you to their brand but to deny content to those of us ready to go is a pretty s****y thing to do.
