I've seen a few 3D-LCD flat panel monitors recently and although they are interesting I don't understand what practical applications they might have. I don't even think they would be good for gaming. Are these more than a novelty?

I'm thinking 3-D glasses for any TV or monitor - if it can support the resolution... They're doing it with the Mars missions right now (fingers x-ed).
