Hi guys

My 3D setup so far...

Intel Q6600 (Quad Core Processor)

6 GB Ram

Nvidia 8800GTS 512 (3D Vision Ready - http://www.nvidia.com/page/8800_features.html )

Windows 7 64bit

Cyberlink PowerDVD 12 Ultra

Acer P1203 3D Ready DLP Projector ( http://www.projectorcentral.com/Acer-P1203.htm )

IDP 3D DLP Link Glasses (Emitter free) Model G01

Sony 3D Blu Ray Player - BDP S490

Mac Pro (DLNA Server) (This streams content to my Blu Ray Player using Servio)

Ok I guess I have all the required hardware but I can't seem to pass the Nvidia 3D Vision Test

I have also tried playing 3D content from the bluray player to the projector and the movie won't even play. All I get is a message saying that this disc is only compatible with 3DHDTVs.

The big question - How can I watch 3D movies via the Acer 3D DLP projector through PC or the Blu Ray Player?

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks guys!

Do you have the 3D vision emittter installed and connected even if you are not using it. Is the 3D vision software installed on your PCand are you using it.

After overdosing on caffeine my 3D setup finally works!!!!!

My DLP galsses are emitter free. They do not require an external emitter to work. This is mainly why I chose it and the price was worth the gamble (ZAR250 / USD30).

Initially, I could not enable Stereoscopic 3D and I could not pass the 3D Vision Test, obviously.

After trying different combinations for the 3D test I eventually tricked the test into thinking that I had the right combination. After that the test was successful. Stereoscopic 3D enabled!

I then found a suitable Stereoscopic Player called "Stereoscopic Player". (Credit goes to someone on the forum - thank you!!)

I made a custom resolution with a refresh rate of 120Hz.

Enabled DLP 3D on my Acer P1203

Opened my SBS movie in the player and 3D here I come baby.

The only problem that I have now is that with a forced resolution and refresh rate the display in Windows is totally distorted but when playing 3D content all is fine.

This I am totally ok with as the Windows PC is only used for 3D content.

My other media is played through my Bluray player from the DLNA Mac Pro Server.

So guys here's a run down of my final hardware used to achieve 3D on Acer P1203 3D DLP Projector without Nvidia 3D Vision hardware:

Intel Q6600 (2.4Ghz Quad Core Processor)

6GB DDR2 Ram

Nvidia 8800GTS 512 (3D Vision Ready - http://www.nvidia.com/page/8800_features.html )

Windows 7 64bit

Stereoscopic Player (Software to play SBS movies - side-by-side)

Acer P1203 3D Ready DLP Projector ( http://www.projectorcentral.com/Acer-P1203.htm )

IDP 3D DLP Link Glasses (Emitter free) Model G01

Agreed the only Nvidia hardware that is used is the graphics card. Other than that no other 3D Nvidia product is used.

My setup is very very old school - but I get decent results. This will only be used for 3D movies and not gaming.

If you have any suggestions or if you can gain help from this your input is welcomed!!

Good luck to you if you are just starting up a 3D setup!!
