This may be a dumb question, but I was wondering whether 3D movies will work on a DLP projector, or if the nature of the color wheel (especially a slow color wheel like 2x) would effectively prevent it from working properly.

Has anyone tried?

I did get 3D movies to work on a DLP projector with an old infocus LP500 with shutter glasses from IO display systems. Here are the settings which worked:

Refresh Rate = 60

Resolution = 640 x 480 (a must, per distributor). I used PowerDVD xp with the settings configured for 640 x 480 on playback.

Be sure you are in a dark room, because at 60 refresh you will have alot of flicker.

Good Luck.

I have a great pair of shutter glasses I use with my computer, I wonder if we could get some games to play in stereo 3d on a 110" screen with my X1 8 )..??

I just bought the "ultimate 3d collection" and so far

I only managed to get it to work on the old 27" crt,

when viewed on the X1 it seems that the image processing

(deinterlacing I guess) mangles the 2 fields and breaks

the 3D effect. I tried with:

my dvd player in non progressive mode (I expect

it would be worse, I will try in that mode too

some other day); for the X1 settings, I tried with

both

- film and video mode

- composite video and component input (480i)

this is with firmware 3.8

Is there a way to tell the X1 to do double the lines/

interpolate instead of using/mixing both fields/frames ?

I suppose I can try with a computer too (but

I moved my computer away from the HT now so

it is a hassle to try...) and the right software (but

I only have an RCA/composite video input on the

3D glasses controller anyway)

(on the CRT it works, though with a bad flicker (even

in darkness) and I'm never quite sure I have the

right/left set correctly (there is a toggle button but

both settings look quite odd, and there is no

"L" "R" test pattern I could find on the 3 bundled DVDs,

unlike what the 1 sheet manual mentions...)

Any ideas ?

You could use the vga input on the X1 to skip the internal scaler but I don't know if that'll work or not...
