Has anyone heard whether Bluray player manufacturers ever intend to include a couple of extra HDMI outputs named LEFT EYE, RIGHT EYE?

Can't see why this should be a real technical issue ...

This way, purists could employ two HD projectors at standard refresh rates using simple polarising filters in front of the lenses and passive glasses as used in cinemas.

The cost of projectors is falling all the time, so this seems a reasonably economic way of "getting into" 3D without the 120Hz headaches and likely image dimmness.

Personally, I think it would be more productive to produce dual lens projectors that have a convergence setting built in for distance. That would also eliminate the need for stacking projectors for more light output.

I doubt it. Twin PJ setups are not mainstream. They define the word; "Niche."


Maybe a special (and expensive) video processor may enter the field years down the road that would seperate the L & R eye images.


Have you checked the prices for quality circular polarized lenses that would fit your PJ's? They come as a set.

Don't forget, in order to use projected polarization you need a silver screen that will retain the polarization. You cannot use a typical screen (or blackout cloth, or painted wall).


The silver screen could compromise the 2D performance. I would think/hope that manufacturers will be working to make better silver screens in future that work well for both 2D and polarized 3D.
