Ok, I've been playing with my new ReplayTV 3030 since I got it Wednesday afternoon... I think I'm getting the hang of things, but wanted to see if there was a better way to do this. The situation for me is that I would like to record as many "3rd Rock From The Sun" and "Howard Stern" episodes as possible, with priority given to Howard, but neither really guarenteed. Here's the deal, there are 2 episodes of each that both air back-to-back at 10pm and 10:30 every weekday. Then there's another Howard episode at 1am and a repeat of the 10pm show at 1:30am. I tried NG Themes but since 3rd Rock is on channel 2 it always won over Howard. What I have now is this: 3rd Rock on NG Theme so it'll pick up any episodes that are left over after all of the Howard conflicts. Then I set up a NG show-based channel (so it'll beat 3rd Rock) for Howard for everyday @ 10:30, another for 1am and another for 1:30. This way I pick up the repeat of the Howard that was at 10, and I can gain the 1st episode of 3rd Rock at 10pm. These are all set for 6 episode storage so they can grab all M-F & Sun. Sunday has a Howard episode at 10:30, so I get that for free since I have the 10:30 set up. There's also a 10pm Howard on Sunday so I have to set up a 4th show-based channel just to get that. So anyway if you've actually read this far you can see it's rather complex and/or convoluted... so I'm looking for a cleaner solution if there is one, I'm trying to get the max out of my new ReplayTV http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/biggrin.gif I'll try to illustrate what I have currently:
I suppose that's not too terrible, but having 4 Howard channels seems like it's a little more excessive that it needs to be. I have them all set to standard mode since there's not much movement on Howard and it seems to work pretty good (and most importantly I can still see all of the guests clearly http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/eek.gif ) And I certainly don't plan on having 19 episodes of Howard on there all at once, I should be able to watch them at a good pace and surely after a while a lot will be repeats. So I guess with this system I should theoretically pick up the 10pm showing of 3rd Rock everyday and then pick up the occasional rogue episode if it doesn't conflict with any of my other guarenteed stuff. The more I think about it, there's probably not a better way and a few of you might be thinking that I'm a little crazy at this point, but I guess part of the reason I wanted to post this was to make the Replay folks aware of the potential power this great new tool has, and maybe they can harvest even more power out of it!!!
