I tried to watch a 4:3 (full screen) dvd title this week using my dreamx-108 (sigma 8500 based clone) on my tosh 50hx81 (16:9 HD-compatible that DOES NOT lock into full when input 480p but DOES lock into full when input 1080i). Obviously I had black sidebars when running in in 1080i output. When I switched the player to 480p or 480i, non of my stretch modes worked. I could select them, but I still had the sidebars. I don't understand how that can happen. Any ideas? Is this the same problem as other sigma 8500 player owners have reported as the player mishandling 4:3 material?
