I am a newbie here and I really really just want a good TV already
so please help a kid out! Also considering a little bit more expensive

Where-to-find-a-deal posts and price-talk posts are against this forum's rules, but here's a link to another forum that allows such discussion:

No worries bro - AVS is much better for technical topics and advice so get yer deal talk over at HDF, then get yer tech talk over here.

Since you mentioned you want 120hz i presume you want an LCD TV, so head over to the LCD forum and see what's out there:

But i think the 120hz thing is not that big a deal . . . . .

Panasonic makes the most reliable TV you can buy so you should be ok. But now that you posted a direct retail link (also against the rules) this thread will probably get delet..... . . . . . . .

As of 1:00pm this afternoon, the http://www.highdefforum.com/flat-panel-tv is down for upgrades. Should be back up tomorrow. About 18 months ago, I helped my Dad pick out a Panny 42" using Randy's suggestions. Dad loves it! It surprised me how well an entry-level TV would perform, and I have to say it's worth every penny and then some. Also, my brother got the very same Panny 42 about 6 months later, and he loves his too. No problems on either TV. Dad scored his from Helig Meyers and my brother got his from Sears. Prices have gone down so you can check out these stores. I do know that I saw a TV commercial today the Helig Meyers was having a sale on their TV's. Both stores will usually price match. Hope this helps. Good luck.

I got my Panasonic TC-P42S1 for $699.99. The new TC-P42S2 is $899.99. I think those are the best deals possible. I bought my TV from Best Buy but price matched Sears.
