Long time lurker, first time poster

I have a 150 inch ceiling recessed screen and a 5050ub projector. Now I need to pick out my audio setup. I'm not completely set on 5.2.4 vs 7.2.4.

The big caveat is the wife doesnt want big noticable speakers. I've decided on "on wall" instead of "in wall" mostly because the in wall space are huge columns with a lot of open space into the house. Also, I dont plan on staying in this house forever and I'll want to take these with me!

So my on wall selection is a bit limited. So far I'm thinking for fronts and center would be martin logan slm xl vs mythos xtr 60 ultra vs htd hts1. Maybe mix and match as the martin Logan dont cover the lower frequencies.

Also, I'll pick up 2 subs probably monolith 12s. Please help.
Thanks.

Why not do in wall speakers? They dont have many issues associated with traditional speakers and sound fantastic while looking clean. You didnt note a budget but check out some paradigm CI line or stuff from revel. Both sound fantastic, better than any on wall speaker I can think of.
I’m not sure if I’d chose Martin Logan as the AMT’s are limited dispersion and don’t handle high power levels as well as a dome would.

Definitely check out Revel, Klipsch, Kef. They all make great in walls.

As above poster said, in walls are super clean and much better performing than on walls. On walls are an extremely compromised design.

Make sure you find a dealer to discount the retail brands, HTD obviously cannot be.

On a side note, I’ve never heard these before but Earthquake Sound recently came out with a Home Audio line and they have some cool on-wall/in-wall speakers that look very intriguing.
Looking to spend about 3 to 500 dollars a speaker. Thanks for the recommendations.
Take a look at Triad:

They will also paint match the speakers and grills to your wall color.

Room VOLUME (cubic ft) dictates SUBWOOFER selection. A pair of Monolith 12 sounds good, a pair of Hsu VTF-3 (15" woofers) would also be worth looking at. Especially if you have open adjacent spaces, which have to be included in the total volume when calculating your subwoofer needs.

LISTENING DISTANCE dictates speaker selection.

If you're sitting 10-12 feet away like most people, you don't really need huge high sensitivity speakers, unless you are a crazy volume freak.

Would your wife tolerate compact bookshelves that are wall mounted, perhaps higher up near the ceiling and tilted downwards? Something like Ascend 200SE, RSL CG23, or NHT SuperOnes? These would sound better than most on-wall speakers especially those in the same price ballpark...slim pretty on-wall speakers tend to give you a lousy price to performance ratio in comparison.

These Revel on walls might be the ticket; available in black or white.
