Trying to setup my HS2000 for the first time. Configured DirecTV via serial and Cable. It would go through the connection and contacting server steps only to get to 90% of "Getting program listings..." and then get a connection error of some sorts. I changed my settings to say I only had cable and am now just trying to download and setup that source, but it only gets to 50% and then jumps back down to 40%.

Any thoughts? Is it trying to download new software too maybe? Not happy so far with this experience.

Maybe the RTV server is busy now. Try again!

Hey, here's an idea. Try pouring a glass of cool water down inside the air vents, maybe that will help! Now, I haven't tried this myself, but do tell us what happens.

Thanks for the fast reply. I called Panasonic and they suggested configuring for only 1 input source first and then adding the second. That's what I am doing now. It is up to 60%, so perhaps it is working. I assume the "this will take 20 mins" message is far to optimistic. It seems to be more like 200 minutes. I am using a hard wired phone line (not a wireless phone jack). So I think I am doing everything right. Guess I will go to bed now and see what happens in the morning. Then I need to get the Directv listings. Wish it was faster to setup, I really wanted to use it on Monday Night Football.

By the way, I now realize it doesn't do what I was hoping it would...record 2 shows at the same time. But I guess that would require 2 hard drives and/or dual tuners.

Anyway...looking forward to actually using this thing to see if it really is "4Me".

Hope it works OK for you tonight. But if you are still having problems with error message here is some thing to try. first run a phone line for unit directly to the phone jack and disconnect everything else on the phone line and I mean everything even the phone in bedroom or den or othe things like caller ID boxes. Now run download. If it is good then it morelikly some thing that you took off that is interfering with the phone line. I found that my caller ID box was. If it still bad then I would have the phone company check the phone lines. More likely it will be a waste of time for all they guarantee it for is voice not for modems. It is best not to even mention modems just tell you hear noise on the line. Even if they say it is good it only means that it good for voice. So there is still a question.

Also there is new software being sent out so they are going to be pretty buesy right now. You might want to try a time you think they are not buesy. I have found that about 6:30am and between 11:30pm to 12:30am to be pretty good times.

I assume you are trying to go thru setup. All setup downloads are the guide data not any zone data or new software. To get these is by the nightlly download or the 243+zone net connect. After you get thru the setup orginaly I would wait for the nightly download to get the rest. If you still get errors on the nightly downloads and you think you are running low on data I would use setup menu/ change input thing to get the guide data since this is faster since all it does is download the guide data. And has more of a chance to download since is shorter if the system is overloaded or buesy. Hopefully by the time everbody get their upgrade thing will get back to normal.

By the way if you still get errors try different phone numbers even if it is a tole charge for a test. http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif

Woke up at 5am and decided to try again. 2 1/2 hours later I watch it finally crawl up to 97%....98%....99% and then BAM!! "Network receive error" What the F*&K!?!?!?!

This is a computer line that has no caller ID. Only a spare unused cordless phone on the line. I will take it off and try again, but this is getting ridiculous! I use this line for modem dial all the time. What gives?!?

I had the same problems when I was setting up my 3060 last week. After about 6 frustrating hours, I tried selecting one of the alternate phone numbers. That did the trick.

That did the trick for me too. Our area received a new area code earlier this year. I chose a number from the 'old' area code (still local) and it worked like a champ.
