Hi Peeps:

I need some opinions. Both are EDTV.

Philips 42PF9936D - plasma panel with TV tuner - 42"

VS.

HP Pavilion PE4200N 42" (same as?? Panasonic TH-42PD50U??)

Which is a better buy/quailty etc.

Right now the Philips is $$$$ CDN and the HP is $$$$ CDN at best buy.

Your opinions are all welcome! thanks!

One more question.

Better quality?

Component (from dvd) with VGA analoge (to TV)

OR

Component to component?

which of these 2 is better?

Thanks for your help!

shelby.

As far as I know that Philips is one or two generations older than the current models.
thanks for the reply.

Any ideas who makes HP's??

I can't find really any reviews on the HP's or the Philips.

I believe Panasonic makes the HP's. The HP PE4200N is supposedly the same as the Panasonic TH-42PD50U. I've seen the Panasonic at Best Buy and the only TV that looked better to me among their selection was the Pioneer 43" HD set which is a lot more dough.
thanks!

also, is it normal to not be able to change the Screen ratios while watching a progressive dvd etc? I want to increase/zoom, but in certain modes seems not possible. all tv's like this in the component mode?
