Hi,

I'm a newbie to HTPCs and powerstrip and I'm struggling. I've been unsuccessful at all attempts to configure my Toshiba 42h83 (via DVI) to display anything above 640x480.

I'm using DVI to my nvidia 5700 card. If anyone has any known good powerstrip configurations please reply.


Specifically 480p, 540p, 720p, 1080i,

I was told that the set CANNOT support 720p via DVI by another forum. Further, they suggested a 480p resolution.


A. ) Do you agree


B.) Do you have some recommended resolutions / powerstrip configurations?

What does it say in your manual in the section which describes the DVI/HDCP input? Mine deals with supported resolutions, reset requirements, and a warning "note" about PC's.

It says "supports 720", but I think it does via a set top box that then upscales to 1080i.

So, I have the nearly-identical 46H83, and I can't get ANY timings to work yet, other than just the default 640x480, which is unacceptable because I can't get it to fill the screen no matter how hard I try... I can't live with the burn in that would cause.


At the moment, im using (gasp) svideo, because I can use tvtool to overscan that. Still looks nice, but nothing like HD content coming off my STB, and obviously way substandard when I toss DVD's into the mix...


I'd really love some help on this...


I can get LOTS and LOTS of modes to ALMOST work, but they always have a slow scroll from bottom to top....
