I recently purchased a LG 47LH90 television from BB and I do like it, except that it is a little too big for the room it is in I have decided to step down to the 42" version.

I previously spoke with a saleseperson there and they said they do not carry the 42LH90 just the 47 and the 55.

In calling BB this morning to find out about returning the 47LH90 (i plan on purchasing the 42 elsewhere), the guy I spoke with claimed they have the brand new 42LE5400 and that it replaces the 42LH90. He also said that the42LH90 is discontinued

This sounds like BS to me as the 42LE5400 is 120 hz not 240 hz and I could not determine if it was a back lit LED with local dimming. Further earlier in the week, a knowledgeable Fry's salesperson claimed the XXLH90 series was NOT discontinued.

So I want to confirm a few things with the people on this site.

1) Is the 42LH90 and 47LH90 really being discontinuied

2) Is the 42LE5400 really a replacement.

3) I did not see any info on whether or not the LE5400 has local LED dimming?

4) If the 42LH90 is being discontinuid, and the LE5400 is not the replacement, is there another LG that is?

By the way, Monday is the last day I can return the TV, so a quick answer would help me out.

Thanks.

It is discontinued...at Best Buy. I've encountered the same responses from my local BB sales reps. But then I go online and see the 42LH90 sold on multiple sites still. And you are correct that the 5400 series is 120 and not 240. But from everything that I can find, I do believe that it is LED backlit and not edgelit.

I know that this reply is almost a month past, but hope it may help some.
