Hey back on this old subject....

Last night , Matrix was on digital SD television...It had the blurring around the face during fast scenes.

Analog TV had the same blurring false contouring , whatever we want to call it.

So...

I put in my PAL dvd , and NO blurring in the exact same scenes!

Now to work out what that means......

As far as I'm concerned it's not an old subject at all.

I'm still not convinced it's not a compression related issue that the NECs simply make more noticeable than other plamas.

It's definitely source related, but I'm still not sure why.

A friend of mine had the same artifact on Sharp 9000 US version, and it was gone when he upgraded to Sharp 9000 European version. It could be a video mode / 2:2 pulldown artifact (i.e., the NECs not processing PAL interlaced properly for some source types).
