I'm about to break down and buy my 1st PVR and since I refuse to get a land-line I'm looking at a 4504. Before I jump, has anyone been able to:

1. Archive shows from the unit to a PC on the home network?

2. Upgrade the Hard Drive (I'm assuming this will work the same as the other models, but 1st hand confirmation would be nice)?

3. Send/recieve shows over Internet/intranet? (Is there a site/list/groups for swapping)

Thanks in advance for any help, all of the info I've come across was on the older models.

The very first 4500 arrived today -- nobody's done nuttin' with 'em yet.

All of that was possible the 4000s, and the 4500s are supposed to be the same hardware and just a fairly minor sw upgrade.

Your questions are a bit premature for the 45xx, as just one person has actually received a 45xx in their hands, and that was today.

But the 45xx seems to be a 40xx with only minor changes.

1) The 40xx can archive shows to the PC with user-supported software on the PC. SwapDV is ONE way to do this. SwapDV is VERY cool. SwapDV is NOT a Sonic Blue program. Look for the thread here.

2) People HAVE updated hard drives just fine on the 40xx.

3) Yes, you can send shows to other 40xxs on the net.
