A buddy brought me his 4805 to look at.


I took it apart and the bulb fan is broken. The shaft broke and needs to be replaced.


How do you get it out?


I took the top two screws off and thats all there are. Seems to be a mounting tab at the bottom but I did not want to force it.


Looks like a simple replacement if I can get the fan out. Do I need to take the power supply board out?

bump for an answer, my fans on my 4805 died (both of them) and Infocus wants 300$ for them to replace them. F that, I'll never buy an Infocus again after their crappy support. won't even sell me the fans.

My X1 sounds like it's about to come apart...at the fan. It makes horrible noises on start-up...and off and on throughout. I guess it could be the color wheel making the noise...

Look back at the "2nd Official" thread and simply search for fan replacement. I know for sure one or two members successfully did this and even posted pics of the procedure.
