If your using the Motorola DCT6200 cable box or DCT6412 DVR, you can configure the cable box to output whatever you want. First leave the TV on and turn off the cable box. On the front of the cable box is a button called Menu. Push that button and a menu will pop up allowing you to configure the cable box. Hope that helps.

480i only being displayed?
Why cant i see any other resolution than 480i on my Hitachi 42HDS52? I have it hooked up via component connections to my Comcast cable box and am a little confused..thanks.

I have the same problem. I changed Motorola STB to 1080i with component hookup. I get a washed out with whites so bright. A BB game has a white foor etc.. I changed back to a 480i output and things go to normal except HD has upper & lower bars. I had to do the same for my DVD setting it to 480i on other set od components. TV works fine with HDMI and RF hookups. I think I am having a problem down converting?
