I have a 32" 4:3 Toshiba CRT HDTV right now. But the small screen for 16:9 DVD movies is getting me antsy for a 37 to 42" 16:9 LCD or plasma flat panel display.

But I was just wondering that if for now, I only care about DVD 480p, would I be better off with an EDTV for now? Or should I wait for prices to come down for an equivalent HDTV model?

And then for HDTV, I'd probably prefer 720p to 1080i, right? (The displays "native" resolution.)

Kevin: If you only care for DVD now, ED is the display for you. On HD material, at 7 feet an HD display (compared to ED) is slightly better and at 12 feet plus, to my eyes, ED and HD are equal. But do check these observations for yourself before buying. Only take comments on this Forum as a beginning point. And Happy Viewing! As far as 720P compared with 1080I: They are about equal with the content being the deciding factor. For all practical purposes, the quality of ABC (720P) and CBS (1080I) are, to my eyes, equal.
