I have an older Pioneer Rear Projection SD-P6085, which is similar to the Elite Pro-118 in most respects.

It was built in 1996+- and does NOT have any hi-def inputs, such as RGB, Component, etc. It only has S-Video and Composite.

I have the Service Manual and have it nicely converged, focused, and keep the lenses, mirror, and screen clean. Overall, the picture is quite good when given a quality source such as DVD via S-Video.

Is there any way to make it 480p, rather than 480i ? Scan Lines make me sad

I suspect the simple/quick answer is most likely "no" because of cost.

However, I'm really asking "What would it take" to make it 480p... regardless of cost? Thinking outside the box... Can Component Inputs be tapped in someplace inside the circuit board? Can a board be swapped out? Could I find the guts of a newer unit and hook them up to my guns?

Everything you would have to do to not only allow the tv to receive 480p, but also display 480p would turn it into a whole new tv. In other words it's like owning a Toyota Camry and doing everything you can to make it like a Cadillac. You might as well get the Cadillac from the experts who make them.

You have a CRT TV which only displays interlaced. And the S-Video standard is 480i as is the composite so you can only send it 480i. You should be able to adjust the TV so ths scan lines are less pronounced.

In other words there is nothing you can do change it since you cannot mix any of its internal components with a progrsssive scan digital tech ology TV or to convert it from a CRT TR to a CRT PC monitor.
