The guys who calibrated my Hitachi Rear Projection TV said that I would get a better picture using the non progressive mode 480I setting on my DVD player and let the TV take care of the scanning in 1080i mode. Is this true and does it make sense? Should I leave my DVD player in 480p progressive scan mode? My option are on the DVD: 480I and 480P on the TV it is 540P and 1080I. Thanks.

The ISF guy who calibrated my Mitsubishi RPTV said the same thing. I suggest comparing, but I bet you'll see little difference either way (as I have). However, I have heard that using the player's progressive output, will lessen edge enhancement (from a very reputable tech). A non-issue for me, since I sit 16' away. So, I'm currently using my Sony DVD-P's progressive output.
