We just had our light engine replaced on our GWIII, so of course I'm back in my anal retentive mode and I've noticed something a bit odd.

When watching an HD channel that's broadcasting in 4x3 (I guess it's not broadcasting in true HD?) the picture isn't quite centered on my set. It can be off between as much as a half/three quarters of an inch, to as little as an eighth, depending on channel. Could this be due to overscan?

The reason I'm thinking overscan is because when watching standard definition cable, the picture is dead center, and of course true HD pictures look amazing.

Any experts have any insight?

Thanks,

Marty

mnelson,

In some cases, it's the fault of the broadcasting affiliate -- they may not be centering the 4:3 broadcast, perhaps to make room for a logo on one side.

You may wish to call those affiliates that are way off the mark and complain to their engineering department.

mnelson,

Your picture centering could be a little off, but if it were, I'd think it would affect standard channels too.

bfdtv, I would have thought the same thing. My assumption is that it's the broadcast on those HD channels that's off, because the standard channels are just fine.

Glen, no the GWIII does not have as internal HD tuner, and I don't think that the moto cable box comcast gave me lets you adjust anything.

Jordan, is that something that would be on one of the THX discs?
