I have a sony DE698 receiver. It is a 7 channel receiver and has a 5.1 multichannel in. I am using a sony bdp-s300 player that has a 5.1 multichannel out. My question is how do I get my receiver to matrix in the back two speakers so i have all my speakers working? I know it won't be true 7.1 but it still sounds better than the 5.1. I turned the receiver to multichannel and just can't figure it out. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

John

You better check with Sony for its availability or your operation guide..

The feature is called post-processing using DPL2x to create Back L/R surrounds. Some AVRs have this capability and many others do not...

A fair amount of AVR's will do this with HDMI input for audio, but very very few will do it from the analog multi-channel inputs.
