i would like to spend approximately $1500 on a 5.1 setup from scratch. 60%movies/40% music. i would like to fit the sub, speakers and reciever in my $1500 budget.


the speakers need to be small and contemporary in style. so far the KEF 2005.2 and the gallo mircos have impressed me and are on the size scale i am looking for. based learnings from past posts in this forum, i would probably substitute a more powerful sub for the micros though.


as for the reciever, i haven't done much homework, but i've heard that NAD recievers drive small speaker setups well. any help would be much apprechiated...

i have an xbox that can play DVDs, but it is definately limiting my picture quality on my 40" LCD TV. so i plan on buying a new progressive scan DVD, but will hold off until i've recovered from paying off the HT system.

thanks. i've seen it. i think i'm pretty familar with the speakers with my specifications available. i was a little mre curious about everyone's opinions. in particular what rciever would best drive these small speakers. i've heard one of the NAD T7x3 might be a good way to go...

Asuuming the LCD stays and you will be holding off on the DVD player... this would be pretty tough to beat for the money; but remember you still need to buy interconnects and wires... the prior advice is excellent, but take a look at Ascend speakers, and perhaps Yamaha receivers.


You really can't beat the subwoofer recommended... HSU is great!
