New 5.1 Surround for an existing theatre room

Hi all,

I just moved into a new house with theatre room. Current Receiver is a Denon 7.2 AVR-X4100W, and a Bose Acoustimass 15 which sucks! Its actually dying, if it hasnt already. I have attached a diagram of the theatre room. I need to replace the bose. I dont really have a set budget..however Im not looking for something exotic. I havent bought anything...ever.. so I dont know if I am looking at 500 or 5000? I would like to keep to a reasonable size, as they will be wall mounted, but they can be slightly bigger than the bose cubes. Room is 20x17. What would you recommend? I also have a newer yamaha 5.1 receiver (RX-A670BL), so I am open to using either receiver. Just want something from a speaker standpoint thats gonna have the wow factor, with a fairly easy setup. The dotted line on the diagram is a bulkhead which the front channels are mounted too. Center channel is under TV.

You can look for DefTech Promonitor 800 or 600.

I have a pair of 800 and use them as surround and they are impressive. Great sound quality and output.

Slightly bigger than a Bose double cube seems a bit small for that room but I would take a look at these Martin Logan speakers with easy returns at Best Buy.

I have the slightly larger LX16 which have the same tweeter and they are excellent.

4 corner speakers.

One of these subwoofers.

*IF YOU ARE NOT AN ACTION MOVIE FAN A SUBWOOFER WITH 22-30HZ EXTENSION WOULD BE FINE
*FOR MUSIC A 30HZ SUB IS A FINE CHOICE
*BEFORE BUYING MAKE A CARDBOARD CUTOUT OF THE SIZE OF THE SUB TO MAKE SURE IT IS NOT TOO LARGE FOR YOU

I already responded in your other thread but this came up if you are willing to settle for something far better than Bose but similar in footprint.

While not as capable as the Martin Logan setup or RSL setup I posted in the other thread it will be better than the Bose.

This splits the difference between the Focal and what I recommended earlier.
Small speakers are a compromise, especially for what looks like a great theater space. If you play with the positioning on that TV, move it up and center it in the opening, you might be able to squeeze in a good center channel and some bookshelf speakers around it.

$? What does it need to buy?

Nice room. Can't believe the previous owner built that room and put a Bose system in there.

Depending on budget the smallest you should go with would the RSL CG3s and a pair of good subs.

small speakers wont do that room justice.
I am going to try the Martin Logans, and I also ordered a pair of the HSU VTF-2 MK5. I can only fit a 15" wide sub on each side of the cabinet unfortunately. Any tips for the sub setup would be great.
