more spendy, but higher performance: 5 x ascend acoustics Sierra luna + a single 400 sub ( Hsu VTF 1 mk 3) .... slightly over budget
refurb KEF LS 50's... no screw mounts... + sub could come in around target budget

Wall mounting severely limits your options, as most speakers with any bass output will sound boomy. Thus, only small form factor speakers are listed.

Also I am going to replace my old speaker cables for this 5.1 setup. Any recommendation? The cables would be concealed.
