I am buying a house that has a Polk 5.1 system built in and figured it was a good excuse to upgrade what I had for a receiver. Now the question I have is can I use a 6.1 receiver (there seem to be much more available) and just not connect the rear center channel? Or will this not give me proper sound from the rear??


I know this is not the forum but figured many people reading this post would be the ones to answer this question as well... Suggestions on a reciever under $500??

No problem whatt-so-ever. Every receiver has a set-up mode and you would tell it that you have a 5.1 speaker system and it will work properly with no loss of sound.
